Switching from Lilo to NTFS boot loader

Login as root and edit /etc/lilo.conf:

uses the command su -i or sudo -s

emacs /etc/lilo.conf

If you use any other editor, use it instead of emacs.Insert the line

default=windows

First make sure you have the following lines in your lilo.conf

other = /dev/hda1
label = windows

After that, effect the changes by entering: lilo

II. If you are using grub,
su -i
go to /boot/grub/menu.ls

1. backup menu.ls:
sudo cp /boot/grub/menu.lst /boot/grub/menu.lst-backup

2. edit menu.ls:
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

3. Move the paragraph with the WinXP options up the list.

4. Change default to 1 (was 0)
default 1
